When they sign Taylor Hall, they'll be good to go.

Still have a solid core and Ovi is ageless so lets see who they bring in.

With this core, yes. Gotta chip some pieces off and tinker.

They kind of have two cores and both are awesome.

Ovi, Backs, Oshie

Kuzy, Wilson, Vrana

They can retool a bit, but get Ovi resigned, trim some cap away with Holtby. Maybe do a sign a trade to at least get some prospects or something out of him.
They should also be bringing in Sprong. He has the scoring touch. Start bringing in some young guys to support the top end and develop and make multiple waves of attack on each line.

They have the talent to win a few more cups before Ovi's done. They Also have the talent to support Ovi's scoring to break 99's record all time.

The biggest thing now will be the new coach. They need someone who will create a system that supports how the team is built and has the ability to inspire them to want to win and work for it. Trots did that very well.

I like TR but that was one of the worst efforts I've seen from the Caps this playoffs other than the one game where Ovi put the team on his back and won that one game.

any team with a decent goalie and a little firepower can go all the way.

their window is still open for sure....the only team in the east that is clearly better than the caps (at least on paper) is Tampa. there isn't a single other team in the east that i can confidently say is better than that caps. as for teams in the west, i'd say vegas is clearly better, and probably the avs (again, on paper) and that's about it.

if there are only 3-4 teams in the league who are better, then you're window is probably still open..........it's certainly more open than about 26 other windows in the league.

Oh look, Tanner doesn't understand the concept of team sports, what a shock.

A team with the best players are not automatically the best team. Actual systems play, puck support and unified play with a strong work ethic will beat pure talent.

It probably has. They were already an older group when they won the cup 2 years ago. It took them a long time to finally have their first big playoff run.

The thing is they lose in a very exciting way.
